Diodes Incorporated's new LED driver AL1696 is suitable for a wide range of Triac dimmable lighting applications, especially retrofit lamps. The new product integrates MOSFETs, eliminating the need for auxiliary windings, reducing peripheral material costs and component count. The AL1696 is available in three MOSFET voltage/current rating models, giving design flexibility to meet the requirements of home lighting production.
The AL1696 can be used in buck or buck-boost topology, with a critical conduction mode for constant current conversion and high power factor. It also reduces switching noise, which simplifies the EMI/EMC test and certification process. This design requires only a single-winding inductor to achieve ±3% current sensing accuracy. With a low operating current of 120μA and a startup current of 150μA, the device is compatible with a variety of Leading-edge and Trailing-edge dimmers, and is compliant with the American Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) SSL6. Dimming curve standard.
The AL1696 offers three MOSFET options, 3A/300V, 2A/500V and 2A/600V, which meet the line input voltage requirements of the end market and are suitable for LED lamps up to 12W. It is available in a small SO-7 package that utilizes additional pin space between the high voltage MOSFET drain and low voltage pins to improve electrical isolation. The device is also equipped with output short circuit, over temperature, under voltage lockout, leading edge blanking and cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection.
The new products offer AL1696-30AS7-13 (3A/300V), AL1696-20BS7-13 (2A/500V) and AL1696-20CS7-13 (2A/600V) three MOSFETs, each with 10,000 shipments. .
